Migration ran floor by floor with a temporary parallel path in place.
The existing network was eleven years old and no longer documented. The first step was not swapping hardware but remapping every cable route that existed.
The refresh ran floor by floor. Each floor was given a temporary parallel path before the old one was taken down, so the hospital information system never lost connectivity for more than a few seconds during the cutover.
The rollout was staged zone by zone so production kept running throughout installation.
